I am not a writer or a film maker.  I don’t have a college degree in literature or film history.  I have no experience or education reviewing movies or books.  I’m just a fan of the genre and could not find a site that brought everything together.  This is my hope for this site, I want to bring reviews, recommendations and news all together in one spot for your entertainment.

Noir is one of those things that some classify in different ways.  I’ve looked at many sites and sources to see what this genre entails.  Some might say it is a style of film making that was popular in the 1930’s through the 1950’s.  Some say it’s a form of literature made popular in pulp magazines.  In my opinion I am going to say Noir translates to Black in French and simply means Dark.   This usually means there was some kind of crime involved.  It may or may not have a detective in it. We may cheer for the bad guy. Our hero doesn’t always win.  A lot of times not everything is wrapped up in a nice little bow at the end, we have questions that don’t get answered.  The women are called Femme Fatales for a reason.  Not everything is cute and cuddly.  I always welcome your input and recommendations for this blog because I made it for everybody that is a fan!

I am going to try and keep this blog positive, meaning I will only post things I liked and recommend.  I’m also going to keep my reviews short for easy reading.  For most of my reviews I’m going to not only be spoiler free, but also not tell you everything about the plot.  I personally hate it when I read a review and it tells me everything that happens in the book!  I don’t even want to know the major plot points because then I’m trying to figure out how it’s going to get from A to B rather then enjoying the material for what it is.  You will never here me say “the plot twist at the end is worth it”  If I know there is a plot twist it kind of ruins the…plot twist.  Hope you find some new gems on this page you may not have otherwise. I also look forward hearing from you about gems I may have missed.
